Why Do We Evangelize?

We evangelize because God commanded us to.

Ezekiel 3:18-21
When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

That is a very strong warning about the consequences of not speaking out. We are not held responsible for the results of the decisions that others make, but we are definitely held responsible if we do not even make the effort. It is not up to us to decide if we think someone will listen to us or not.

There is another reason to evangelize. We know that God is not willing that even one of His children shall perish. Therefore it is reasonable to assume that Jesus will not return for us until every person that can be saved, is saved. If we are serious when we say, “Lord Jesus, come soon” then we have to get out there and make certain that the very last person on earth has heard the message of salvation. We never know if that person that we are afraid to speak to is the last person Jesus is waiting for.
