The Window to the Soul

They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul. Eyes are the things of romance. Lovers gaze into their beloveds eyes. Poets wax eloquently about the eyes. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Albert Einstein - “Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts.”
Charles Robert Darwin - “To suppose that the eye with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I confess, absurd in the highest degree.”
John Vance Cheney - “The soul would have no rainbow had the eyes no tears.”

Joseph Addison - “Our sight is the most perfect and most delightful of all our senses. It fills the mind with the largest variety of ideas, converses with its objects at the greatest distance, and continues the longest in action without being tired or satiated.”
Lord George Gordon Byron - “She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; And all that's best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes: Thus mellow'd to that tender light Which heaven to gaudy day denies.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson - “An eye can threaten like a loaded and levelled gun, or it can insult like hissing or kicking; or, in its altered mood, by beams of kindness, it can make the heart dance for joy. ... One of the most wonderful things in nature is a glance of the eye; it transcends speech; it is the bodily symbol of identity.”
“True friendship is seen through the heart not through the eyes.”

There are none so blind as he who will not see.
