End Times

Yesterday I caught the repeat of the interview that Glenn Beck aired a couple of weeks ago with Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye (Authors of the "Left Behind" series) and Joel Rosenberg (author of "Epicenter"). They are all experts on end time prophecies. Although the "Left Behind" books are fictionalized the description of what we can expect after the Rapture of the church and during the Tribulation comes directly from the pages of scripture. I do not believe there are any errors in their theology. It was an excellant and informative interview, pointing to the signs that we are now in the "end times" and that we could be seeing the fullfillment of Revelation prophecy in our very lifetime. Although it is true that people have been expecting the imminent return of Jesus for centuries, at no other time have all of the key elements been in place for that to happen until now. Israel becoming a nation in 1948 was the beginning. Rapid advances in technology in the latter part of the 20th century and early part of the 21st century have made possible the fullfillment of prophesies that simply didn't make sense until now. Never before in history would it have been possible to number and mark every person on earth. Microchip technology enables the "Mark of the Beast" to be implemented that each person would need to buy and sell.

Revelation 13:16 -17
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Until the advent of modern telecommunications and ease and speed of travel, a one world government would not have been possible. Nuclear weaponry has made possible the destruction of millions of people as well as one third of the world's vegetation being destroyed.

Revelation 8:7
The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

There are many more such prophecies, too many for me to go into here. The study of end time prophecy is fascinating and I recommend that all Christians should check it out. Our time may be very short.

Spring and Hope Mission

Ed and I just finished our four day work rotation (we work 12 hours a day - noon to midnight - four on and four off) so we spent Thursday doing yard work. Ed cleaned up several bags of tree needles and I worked on my flower bed. My back is stiff and sore but the front yard is now ready for God to work His spring miracle on. I can hardly wait to see it all in bloom.

I noticed that the rabbits downtown are brown again so spring really is here.

Work has gotten busier with the warm weather. More people are on the street since it has gotten nicer and many of them are hungry and in need of the services that the Hope Mission and the Hope Mission Ministry Van provide. Blankets will be a necessity because more of them will be sleeping outside and camps are being set up in the river valley.
Ed received a plaque the other day from EMS thanking us and Hope Mission for the services that the Ministry Van provide. The plaque is hanging in the main office of the Hope Mission Building.

We Are But Dust

I may have strep-throat (I see the doctor later today), my niece's little boy has strep throat, my niece had back surgery last week, then fell and twisted her ankle and is on crutches, my son just found out he needs his sixth surgery (yes I said six!) in as many years for the nightmare that is his sinuses, my grandson has the flu and an ear infection, my husband has a large, very painful, inflamed cyst on his pelvis. Oh these wretched, vile bodies!

Romans 7:24
O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Philippians 3:21
Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Genesis 3:19
......... for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return
.

Psalms 103:14
For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

Yes, I know that we are but dust. But I just never knew that dust could hurt so much!

End of the Spear

Ed and I stayed in last night and had a pizza and movie night. We rented "The End of the Spear". This is a very good movie, a must see, about faith, foregiveness and redemption. Five young missionairies in 1956 dare to make contact with the Waodani, a violent tribe in the jungles of Ecuador, who are motivated solely by revenge killing. After a failed attempt to befriend the tribe the five men are savagely murdered. Their families courageously set out to finish the mission these men began. There are two powerful lines in the movie that I will never forget. The first is near the beginning when the young son of one of the missionairies asks his father, "If they attack will you shoot?" His father replies, "We can't shoot the Waodani. They're not ready for Heaven. We are." The other line comes near the end. The young boy is now an adult. He finally finds out which of the tribesmen actually speared his father, one that he has befriended. The tribesman offers himself to the son to be speared in retaliation. The son throws down the spear and says, "No one took my father's life. He gave it." The movie certainly challenges us to rethink our own concept of foregiveness and sacrifice. By the way, be sure to stay for the credits. There is a very funny story at the end during the credits about the tribesman's later visit to America. You don't want to miss it.

New Life

Well, it looks like I'm up and running. It's been a cold, gray day and I think I might have strep-throat (I've been in contact with it) and I'm miserable. But it's spring with it's promise of new life.

I've noticed several little green sprouts valiantly struggling to poke their way through the barren earth in my flower bed.

Luke 12:27
Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

My nephew and his wife have just added a new baby to their family this morning bringing the count to four precious little ones that God has blessed them with.

His name is Seth Elijah Jackson, and he is a new brother to Avery, Gabe and Emma. Proud parents are Ryan and Char.

Mark 10:14
Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

Thank you, Father, you are so good to us.

In With the New

I have been trying to teach myself how to start blogging and here I am. I am always willing to try something new, but it is helpful if the programmers make it idiot proof. Now I'm going to have to try to think of something new and interesting to say all of the time.
